Oakland East Bay Symphony
Each year the Oakland East Bay Symphony hosts Young People's Concert for Oakland school children. Bay Breeze created educational materials for teachers to use to enhance students' concert experience.

Bay Breeze recently created an educator guide for PBS/WETA for Ken Burns film "The War." The guide can be viewed here.

National Public Radio/WBUR Journeys to Antarctica
WBUR sent journalist Dan Grossman on a five- week Antarctic adventure. Bay Breeze created classroom materials for this virtual journey that focused on topics such as global warming, sea life, glaciers, and ice fields. Visit the site



ABOUT US

Maureen Carroll, Ph.D.
Co-founder and co-CEO of Bay Breeze Educational Resources, brings to her work a varied background in education and publishing. Carroll has taught at the elementary, junior high school, and college level, in both special education, and reading and writing. She has also served as a resource room teacher and an education research assistant.

Dr. Carroll holds a B.S. degree in biology from College of Mt. St. Vincent, an M.S. degree in special education from Long Island University, and received her doctorate in Education, Language, Literacy & Culture from the University of California, Berkeley. Her published work includes children's literature, textbooks, and academic journals. She has also presented educational research regularly at the National Reading Conference. She is a member of the Technology, Communication and Literacy Committee of the International Reading Association.

 
Laurel Blaine
Co-founder and co-CEO of Bay Breeze Educational Resources, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fitchburg State College with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in History. One of Blaine's primary interests in education is the creation of integrated, thematic learning units that support the growth of creativity and critical thinking skills in students. She has conducted process writing workshops in elementary classrooms in California.
